• What kind of wood do you use?
We work regularly with a variety of woods, from the oldest of ancient woods, the Kauri wood we use, dated at 50,000 years, to the Ailanthus, a common tree that grows in urban settings but is imbued with great meaning and hope. Every wood is its own experience and carries its own story into the shop, then back out with it as a finished product.

Much of the wood we use comes to us well on its journey. Aside from the ancient woods, we also use new wood rich in its short history, whether it has been a part of a musical instrument, a family heirloom, or someone's home. Gustav has made jewelry for people out of precious family heirlooms, childhood memories, and woods from their history that carry special significance.
