Resizing

We recommend that you get professionally sized by a local jeweler.  In many cases, our wood rings can be made ¼ size larger or smaller (depending on the ring sometimes we can go up or down ½ size) without needing to remake the ring. In these instances we offer simple resizing free of charge, all we ask is that you cover the cost of shipping  (shipping for resizes & refinishes)

If more of a sizing adjustment is needed and we need to remake the ring, the remake cost is as follows:

  • For a non-custom uninscribed ring, the remake is 25% of the original cost of the ring.

  • For a non-custom inscribed ring, the remake is 50% of the original cost of the ring.

  • For custom rings the remake will be 75% of the original cost of the ring.

Resizing usually takes 2-3 weeks (not including shipping), depending on order volume. If you need your resize sooner please contact us directly and we will try to accommodate you.

Exchanges

To discuss an exchange you must contact us within 14 days of the receipt of your ring through our web form or e-mail us at craftsman@simplywoodrings.com, after 14 days any consideration of an exchange will be decided on a case by case basis.

Non-custom rings, such as rings that were purchased from our In-Stock selection or from our Standard Designs, that are uninscribed will be accepted for the exchange of “In-Stock” rings of equal or lesser value.

Credit toward the commission of a new ring design is as follows:

  • Credit for non-custom un-inscribed in-stock or standard design rings will not exceed 75% of the original ring’s price, and can be used toward the commission of a new design.

  • Credit for non-custom un-inscribed standard design rings will not exceed 75% of the original ring’s price.

  • Credit for custom designed rings that are uninscribed are accepted on a case by case basis (depending on the complexity of the ring) and will not exceed 50% of the original cost of the ring, and can be used toward the commission of a new design.

  • Credit for custom rings with inscription will not exceed 25% of the original cost of the ring and can be used toward the commission of a new design (exceptions are made for remakes due to sizing issues, please see more info in our Resizing section).

Credit for all in-stock and standard design inscribed rings will not exceed 50% of the original ring’s price and can be used toward the commission of a new design.

Returns

Returns and Refunds will be decided on a case by case basis, to discuss a return you must contact us within 14 days of recieving of your ring through our web form or e-mail us at craftsman@simplywoodrings.com, after 14 days any consideration of a return may be denied.
Before a refund can be given, we must have the ring(s) back in original condition.

In the event that we issue a refund, no refund will be given on inscription, expedited, or shipping fees.

For in-stock rings and standard design rings that are uninscribed and have not otherwise been customized by changing the width or any other feature, returns are accepted within 14 days and are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Standard design rings that are inscribed can only be refunded for the ring, not the inscription ($25 fee).​

Custom designed rings that are uninscribed will only be refunded on a case by case basis and at no more than 50% of the original cost of the ring (excluding any shipping, and expedited fees).

Custom designed rings that are inscribed will only be refunded on a case by case basis and at no more than 25% of the original cost of the ring (excluding any shipping, inscription and expedited fees).

Order Cancellations

For regular orders:
If you wish to cancel an order, you must make the request to do so within 7 days of placing your order. Requests to cancel an order after seven (7) days will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

For expedited orders:
Requests to cancel an order will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Should you cancel your order, the refunded amount will be issued to the original form of payment.

Pricing

The prices for our wooden rings, including in-stock and custom designs, can vary greatly depending on the materials used and the complexity of the design. We have worked extremely hard to create a fair and equitable system for pricing each ring, to avoid overcharging clients and undervaluing our work. If we provide you with an initial quote, at a commission meeting, by email, phone, or elsewhere online, we cannot be held to this price if a later calculation, using our established pricing system, yields a more accurate commission price. We are always happy to provide you with a list of prices upon request.

Materials

Not all materials will look exactly like the photo shown. Wood and stones are natural materials and colors can vary from each piece. We are able to "recreate" rings, they may not look exactly like the photo or drawings from the original idea. 

Payment

For payment of online we accept most major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, as well as PayPal money transfers. All transactions are processed through PayPal, but you don’t need a PayPal account to place your order. You may also place an order over the phone, using a credit card. For purchases made at art and craft shows, as well as by personal appointment, we accept cash and credit card payments. 

In the event of a refund, the payment will be issued to the original mode of payment. If the original transaction is more than 60 days old, the payment will be issued in the form of a check, paid and mailed to the credit card owner.

Sales Tax

Orders billed to an Illinois address will be subject to the state tax rate (10.25%). Materials costs will not accrue sales tax. However, expedited orders will be subject to sales tax of the total commission cost, including the expediting fee.

Expedited Orders

We’re happy to expedite an order whenever a client asks and our production schedule allows for it. Upon paying the expediting fee, we’ll agree upon a date, and work diligently to make sure your ring(s) arrive on time. However, paying the expediting fee does not guarantee that you will receive your order on the agreed upon date. In rare cases, issues arise with materials and technology and the studio. We’re all human here, and these issues may cause a ring to arrive slightly late. In these cases, we’ll refund you the full expediting fee.

Shipping

All orders are made in and shipped from Chicago, Illinois, USA. While we do have some rings in-stock, (available for immediate delivery), most of our work is made to size upon order. For in-stock rings, please allow 1-3 regular business days for your order to ship. For all other orders, please allow 6-8 weeks after receipt of payment so that we may craft and ship your order. This timeframe may vary depending on our current volume of orders, so please speak to us before placing your order for a more accurate estimate. Orders may be expedited for a small fee, if you need your ring(s) by a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or other special occasion. Please see “Expedited Orders” for more information.

Please note that these shipping times are estimates. You may contact us with your postal code for a more exact ETA. While these are our standard options, we would be happy to look into other carriers and services if you have a strong preference.

We are not responsible for any loss, theft or damage that occurs during shipping. When placing your order online, please make sure that your shipping address is complete and correct.

Refinishes

Every wooden ring, as well as each wooden inlay in our salvaged metal rings, is covered with a clear, protective finish. It is normal for the finish to wear over time. For this reason, we offer free finishes for most orders*, as many times as needed, for as long as you own your ring. We recommend annual refinishing to keep your ring strong and beautiful!

For each refinish, you’re only responsible for any shipping costs incurred in sending the ring to and from. If you need a refinish less than six (6) months after your order is placed, we’ll pay the shipping costs to return the ring(s) to you.

Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for any loss or damages that occur during shipping. Please send the ring or rings to us in a secured, padded package. Using a hard-sided box (like the one we provided in the original order).  Take care to include a note with your name, shipping address, and original purchaser’s name. If there is wood burning, please note what it says, as we may have to re-do it, depending on the ring’s condition.

Packaging

The packaging for every ring is simple and natural, a subtle compliment to the organic beauty of each ring. We use all recycled materials and minimize the wrapping to reduce waste. Each ring is placed, wrapped in recycled gift paper, in a small wooden box made from our shop’s odds-and-ends. The box is then wrapped in recycled tissue paper and secured with a small piece of twine. We enjoy writing handwritten thank you notes to our clients, printed on 100% post-consumer content paper, and then wrapping up the bundle in a box appropriate to the shipping mode you’ve selected.

Client Materials

When a client brings us materials, we sometimes do not need their full complement in order to craft that client’s ring. In the interest of responsible materials usage, we reserve the right to use any leftover materials for future work. If you would rather have the leftover materials returned, please make the request along with your submitted order and we will be happy to send them along.

If you’re sending materials for testing purposes, prior to placing an order, a written request for return-of-materials must be included in the package. If the materials to be returned are too large to be sent with the commission, you’re responsible for any additional shipping costs.

We are not responsible for any loss, theft or damage to your materials while in our possession or during shipping. However, know that we handle client materials with utmost care!

Privacy

Simply Wood Rings respects its clients and understand that you are concerned about your privacy, so we’ve instituted a privacy policy intended to ensure that your personal information is handled safely and responsibly. Below you’ll find detailed information about what types of data we collect, how it is handled, with whom it may be shared, what choices you have regarding our use of your information and how you may access some of the data you provide.

What information is collected?

Various types of information are collected, depending on how you use our site. This information is gathered through email requests, responses to surveys or other solicitations.

When you order from Simply Wood Rings, we collect your name, address, email address, phone number, and payment information. I may also collect information on the person who will receive the purchased items, if different from yourself, including that person’s name and address. We retain most of this information as record of your purchase. We do not retain payment information for any reason.

When you request to be on our electronic or paper mailing list, we’ll collect your name, address, email address and phone number, so we can stay in touch!
When you respond to a survey, we’ll normally ask for your name, address, email address and phone number. We may also ask you for additional information, such as age, interests, product preferences, or zip code. This will help us get out the word to the people who are most likely to enjoy and support our work.

When you submit a question, we’ll need your email address to respond. You may also choose to include other germane information so that we’re able to answer your inquiry.

Cookies

A cookie is a small packet of information sent by a website that is then saved on your hard drive by your computer’s browser. It holds information a site will need to interact with you and personalize your experience. At Simply Wood Rings, we use two kinds of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies.

Session cookies exist only for as long as your browser remains open. Once you exit your browser, they expire. We use session cookies to maintain information we need to have in order for you to shop at Simply Wood Rings. For example, the Session_ID cookie retains the ID for your shopping bag. Without the Session_ID cookie, you cannot add merchandise to your bag or make any purchases.

Persistent cookies, in contrast, last from visit to visit; they don’t expire when you exit your browser. You can browse our site without accepting a persistent cookie. However, you cannot add merchandise to your bag or make any purchases. You may set your browser options to reject persistent cookies. Alternatively, you can set your browser to notify when you receive a cookie, which provides you with the opportunity to choose. In many instances, the "help" button on your browser tool bar will tell you how you can take these steps.

How is collected data used?
We may use your information in a number of ways, including:
- to improve the content of the website. For example, we may use cookies to find out which parts of my site or which products are viewed most often.
- for marketing and promotional purposes. Occasionally, we’ll send emails, direct mail, or catalogs to our clients, but only when we have something really exciting to say, about products or events that may interest them.

Is this information shared?
The information gathered will never be shared with a third party without your written consent. However, we may share your account or other information when we believe it’s necessary, in order to comply with the law or to protect Simply Wood Rings’ interests or property. This may include sharing information with other companies, lawyers, or government agencies in connection with issues related to fraud, government subpoenas and/or warrants.

Is my information secure with SSL?
At Simply Wood Rings, we are committed to providing our clients with a highly secure shopping environment. We maintain practices and procedures designed to ensure the security, integrity and confidentiality of client information, and use various security measures to ensure that your credit card information is protected, including the latest in security technology. When you place an order through the site’s shopping cart, your personal information is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology, the industry standard security protocol for encoding sensitive information. SSL creates a shared digital key, which only lets the sender and the receiver of the transmission scramble or unscramble information. To everyone else, the SSL transmission is indecipherable.

Encryption is based on the mathematical scrambling and unscrambling of messages. The type of encryption we use assigns two keys - one is a public key and one is a private key. When you send us a message, you use our public key to encrypt your message. Once I receive your encrypted message, I use the private key to decode it. The same key cannot both encrypt and decrypt information. So, information encrypted using the private key can only be decrypted using the public key, and vice versa, ensuring the security of your information.

This technology, together with other security measures, protects your personal information as it moves from your computer to our server. We also restrict and limit access to client information only to those employees who require it to carry out their business functions, and educate our employees about safeguarding client information and preventing its unauthorized access, disclosure, or use. We constantly monitor and, as appropriate, adopt new technological improvements designed to protect and ensure the accuracy and security of client information..

Our clients are given the opportunity to opt-out of having their information used for purposes not directly related to their transaction at the point where we ask for the information.
